Kiruna municipality has not lived up to the decision to adopt a detailed plan for the graphite mine in Nunasvaara in Vittangi in Kiruna municipality.
Therefore, the government now assigns the county administrative board to draw up a detailed plan, at the expense of the municipality, which makes mining operations possible that have already received all permits on site.
Kiruna municipality has been against the mine. Therefore, the government decided in the winter to force the municipality to adopt a detailed plan, according to the planning and building act. This has not been done within the time frame set.
“With this decision, I hope that Sweden will get its 14th mine,” says Energy and Enterprise Minister Ebba Busch (KD) in a press release.
