"The King is receiving antibiotics for a bacterial infection in the blood, and has responded to this treatment," the press release states.

Furthermore, the Norwegian court writes that "the situation is stable" and that the king remains hospitalised.

The King was admitted to the National Hospital in Oslo on Monday due to fluid retention. He has been treated with cortisone for haemolytic anaemia, a form of anaemia, in recent weeks.

King Harald, 89, has been hospitalised several times in recent years. In February, he was admitted during a vacation in Tenerife after suffering a skin infection on his leg and dehydration.

In March 2024, he received a pacemaker after falling ill during a vacation in Malaysia.
