British monarchs are legally exempt from income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax. However, the first two taxes have been paid on a voluntary basis since 1993.

According to AFP, Charles III will become the first monarch to publish his tax statement, which is scheduled for Thursday.

“Our aim is to explain all aspects of the royal finances in a way that further increases clarity and accessibility, while placing them in their historical and constitutional context,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
