The 20-year-old Mercedes driver took his eighth victory of the season at the new track in Madrid and now has an 81-point lead in the world championship standings with nine races left to run.

I'll do my best and we'll see where I end up at the end of the year," says Antonelli in the victory interview on Viaplay's broadcast.

He won ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen and McLaren's Lando Norris. Norris had pole position and was leading the race when the team ordered him to let other drivers overtake to avoid a second penalty.

It feels good to win, but it doesn't feel good for Lando. He deserved to win, says Antonelli.

"There was nothing I could do. We deserved to win, but that's racing," Norris said.
