According to an anonymous government source, Kim Jong-un has arrived in the Chinese border city of Dandong, Yonhap reports. Kim is said to have crossed the border over a large bridge across the Yalu River that was officially inaugurated only last week - twelve years after it was completed.

However, North Korean and Chinese state media have not reported any visit.

In recent years, Kim Jong-un has focused on strengthening ties with Russia, which has provided North Korean soldiers and weapons for the war in Ukraine. Now, the North Korean dictator also appears to be working to strengthen relations with China, the country’s most important ally.

Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Pyongyang in June.
