The 35-year-old javelin thrower suffered a serious shoulder injury in 2022 that kept him out of athletics for four years. Earlier this year, he decided to make a comeback.
He started with a 75-metre throw at the end of May, but it was not until his fifth competition after his comeback that he managed to throw further. In an international competition in Lucerne on Thursday, Amb threw 78.83 and came second in the competition, which was won by Australian Cameron McEntyre at 85.73.
In April, Amb told SVT that he dreams of making it to the European Championships in Birmingham. The international qualifying mark for the European Championships is 83 metres.
The longest Kim Amb has thrown was 86.49, six years ago.
