The 32-year-old long jumper has had recurring back problems in recent months and has therefore had an MRI scan. It showed that she has suffered a mild herniated disc, the association writes.
"Now we know what it is. I can't stress, this is something that needs to take time to rehab. We can only let it take the time it takes," says Sagnia.
Sagnia finished fourth at the World Indoor Championships in Poland earlier this year, and the announcement comes a month before the European Athletics Championships, which will be held in Birmingham in August.
