Kevin Federline – the dancer and DJ who was previously married to pop star Britney Spears – writes in his memoirs that he is worried about Spears after her guardianship was terminated, according to New York Times.

In his new memoir "You thought you knew" ("Du trodde att du visste") Federline gives his picture of his and Britney Spears' marriage, which lasted for three years and ended in 2007, which in turn became the beginning of a custody dispute. According to Federline, he has had hardly any contact with Spears during the 18 years that have passed since the separation, but writes in the book that he has become increasingly worried about what he describes as unstable behavior, and refers to their two sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.

Stood with a knife in hand

"They sometimes woke up at night and saw her standing quietly in the doorway, and looked at them as they slept - 'Oh, you're awake?' - with a knife in hand. Then she turned around and left without explanation," Federline writes.

In the book's second-to-last chapter, he wrote that "It has become impossible to pretend that everything is okay", and that "Something bad will happen if nothing changes, and my greatest fear is that our sons will have to pick up the pieces."

"Larger than me"

A spokesperson for Spears declined to comment on Monday.

Spears' guardianship ended in 2021 after a judge found that it was "no longer necessary". Federline writes that the "FreeBritney" movement, which fought to end the guardianship, "maybe started from a good place", but that it has now made professionals with the opportunity to help Spears afraid to intervene.

Federline appeals to everyone affected by Britney to give her and their children support:

"Now, more than ever, they need your support. I have been their buffer for years, but now it's larger than me. It's time to sound the alarm."
