Durant scored 27 points as Houston defeated Miami, moving him into the top five on the NBA's all-time career scoring list, passing Michael Jordan.
Ahead of him on the list are Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James.
"Four more to go," said 37-year-old Durant with a smile after the game.
So far, he has amassed 32,294 points, and he says he has been inspired by those above him on the list.
It's cool, but it's hard to take in when the journey is still ongoing. You only care about getting better, he said.
