The 25-year-old man traveled to Stockholm in the belief that a drug debt would be settled, TV4 Nyheterna reports. Instead, he was taken to an apartment where three men kept him locked up for two days.
He was subjected to violence, including blows to the head and neck - and was also forced to contact relatives to get money. In total, relatives brought over approximately 50,000 kronor, which the man passed on to the perpetrators.
A relative of the man alerted the police, who began wiretapping.
The district court sentenced three men to five years in prison for kidnapping and extortion. Two of the men were also sentenced to deportation.
