Keira Knightley was not aware of the calls to boycott author JK Rowling's work before she agreed to participate in the new audiobook editions of the "Harry Potter" series, reports The Guardian.

In an interview with Decider Knightley was asked if she knew that "some fans are urging a boycott of Harry Potter" where Knightley plays professor Dolores Umbridge.

I was not aware of that, no. I regret that. We live in a time when we all have to figure out how we can live together, right? And we all have very different opinions. I hope we can find respect for each other.

In September, JK Rowling criticized the actress Emma Watson (who plays Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" movies"). Rowling's criticism came after Watson said that she still loves the "Harry Potter" author and therefore refuses to dismiss her, even though they have different views on gender identity. Rowling then responded that Watson is "ignorant of how ignorant she is".
