The unfair relocation tax affects many Swedes and creates major lock-in effects in the housing market, says KD leader Ebba Busch.

KD has previously proposed reducing the capital gains tax of 22 percent on profits from housing transactions by 2 percentage points per year, starting once the owner has had the home for five years. After 16 years, the reductions would result in a capital gains tax of zero.

This will be one of our important election promises, says Busch.

If fully implemented, the abolition would cost SEK 12–15 billion a year. It will be financed by reprioritizing within the budget, not through loans, according to KD.
