"Today we are proposing what we call a mother's bonus in the pension system. No one should have to lose financially by having a child," Christian Democrats leader Ebba Busch told the radio.
Anyone who gives birth to a child will receive SEK 36,900 deposited into their premium pension account, which, according to KD's calculations, would give a mother of two children SEK 700 more per month from the day she retires.
The reform will be financed by scrapping pension rights for studies.
The reason why we believe it is reasonable to reprioritise these funds is that those who continue their studies generally do not lose pension payments if we were to do this, Busch explains.
The proposal will be presented at the KD leader's summer speech on Hönö later in the day.
