An important part of KD's election promise is that the current temporary state investment in adult psychiatry of 1.5 billion kronor a year will be made permanent. It otherwise expires in 2028.

Today, there are 24 adult psychiatric beds per 100,000 inhabitants, according to Forssmed. The goal is to return to the 2015 level - 30 per 100,000 inhabitants.

KD also wants the 1.5 billion contribution to be based on how many more care places the regions achieve.

Forssmed believes that today's care places are too few, which has life-and-death consequences.

Too few are admitted, they get shortened treatment times, but are discharged for nothing. Sometimes people take their own lives or attack others because treatment times are shortened, he says.
