Katy Perry Responds to Online Criticism with Humility and Love

Katy Perry wants to assure her fans that she's doing well – despite the teasing on social media. "When they online try to make a 'human piñata' out of me, I respond with humility and love", writes the pop star in social media.

The spaceflight with an all-female crew on Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin was intended as a feminist power demonstration. But it ended with Katy Perry being ridiculed and mocked on social media after the eleven-minute excursion on April 15.

Now the pop star, who has just launched a new tour, is speaking out on social media – to calm her fans.

"Dumpster for the insane"

"I'm aware that the internet is a dumpster for the insane and vulnerable. What really matters is seeing your faces every night when you sing together, getting to read your messages and feeling your warmth", writes Katy Perry.

Many were upset that Katy Perry kissed the ground when she landed on earth again and that she sang Louis Armstrong's "What a wonderful world" in space. She has also been criticized for lending her name and celebrity to what has been described as a very expensive PR stunt for the space company.

Apologetic

Several artists and media profiles have also come out with criticism, but some have since backed down. Lily Allen went out yesterday and apologized.

"There's no reason to drag her name into this, it was more about my own misogyny", said the pop star in her podcast.

"I don't like what they did, but she wasn't alone in it", continues Lily Allen.

Katy Perry notes in her post that she is not perfect.

"I've removed that word from my vocabulary. I'm on a human journey and playing the game we call life in front of a large audience and sometimes I stumble... But I always get back up again", she writes.
