Karsten Warholm skips Diamond League final over prize money dispute

The Norwegian, who runs the 400-meter hurdles, is instead choosing to focus on the International Association of Athletics Federations' new major competition, the Ultimate Championship - a hybrid between a championship and a gala - where the very best athletes compete for big prize money.

The 30-year-old recently lost the world record when Brazilian Alison dos Santos ran 45.80 seconds at the Diamond League meeting in Zurich, Switzerland.

The Diamond League final in Brussels, Belgium, will be held on September 4-5.

The new Ultimate Championship in Budapest, Hungary, is scheduled for September 11-13.
