"Thank you for all the training hours and good memories, Atle. Today we run for you!! Rest in peace, buddy," Warholm writes in an Instagram post just hours before he is to run the mixed European Championships relay for Norway in the 4x400 metres in Birmingham.
"Atle was unique. He was completely unique in his loyalty. He was very good to have in a sports group and completely irreplaceable for us," says Warholm, who has won an Olympic gold medal and three World Championship gold medals in the event, to VG.
In the early 2000s, McAdam, 49, was Norway's top 400-metre hurdler. He won three Norwegian championships and his 50.67 seconds from 2003 stood as the Norwegian record for ten years.
McAdam died after a collision with a car during a cycling session south of Oslo.
