She receives it for "deeply reflective writing where narrative voices and characters are given space to explore themes such as vulnerability, power and writing's ability to control the world," the motivation read.
Ramqvist debuted as an author in 1997. Among her best-known works are "The Girlfriend" from 2009, "The Beginning of Everything" from 2012 and "The First Book" (2024), which was nominated for the August Prize.
The Selma Lagerlöf Literature Prize has been awarded by a foundation of the same name since 1984. The prize of 100,000 kronor is given to authors who work in the spirit of Selma Lagerlöf. In recent years, the prize has gone to Eva Lindström and Steve Sem-Sandberg, among others.
