She receives it for "writing that repeatedly explores the interplay between emotions and power relations with objectivity, empathy and courage," the motivation reads.

Ramqvist made her debut in 1997 with the music essay "When Swedish Boys Started Dancing" and has since written several novels, short stories, essays, reports and criticism. Her latest novel "The First Book" was published in 2024.

The prize money is 400,000 kronor. Last year it went to Eva-Stina Byggmästar and Ingela Strandberg.

The De Nio Society is a literary academy that was founded in 1913 with the aim of promoting Swedish fiction.
