Karl Bushby completes 28-year walk home to Hull after covering more than 50,000 kilometres

For 28 years, adventurer Karl Bushby has been walking towards his home in Hull, UK. On Monday, he took his final steps. “I’m back,” he said, according to Sky News.

Hundreds of people have gathered in Queen Victoria Square in Hull, eastern England, to welcome him.

Last night in a tent, the last day on the road... and now it’s just the final few steps to my mother’s house, Bushby tells the crowd.

Karl Bushby began his walk in Chile in November 1998, aiming to walk continuously to his home in Hull. He made his way through South and North America and via Alaska to Russia, where he initially faced visa checks and was delayed.

Over 28 years, he has crossed four continents and covered more than 50,000 kilometres.

At home in Hull, his mother, his 36-year-old son Adam and a grandson he has never met are waiting.
