The role is different from the self she shows in "The Kardashians," she notes.
I get to play tough, someone who is not as emotional and empathetic as I am in private, says Kim Kardashian.
“All's Fair” is about a group of women in Los Angeles who start a law firm with the express goal of defending women in divorce cases. The rookie Kardashian is surrounded by experienced acting professionals like Glenn Close, Naomi Watts and Sarah Paulson.
“Inspired by the series”
Kim Kardashian is in a hotel room in London, wearing a yellow dress, her hair slicked back. She says it was no coincidence that she was studying law at the same time she starred in the series. Quite the opposite.
Ryan Murphy, who I had worked with previously when I was in “American Horror Story,” heard that I had started studying to be a lawyer and that inspired him to write the series.
She thinks the group playing the main roles have really found each other, both in front of and behind the camera.
We are women, we are the ones who make the world go round. When you find your group, you stick with it.
She describes her character in the series, Allura Grant, as a tough and combative divorce lawyer, someone who fights for her clients and makes sure they get what they deserve.
In a divorce, it's good to have a tough woman in your corner. Someone who can pick you up when you're down. I hope that our series can inspire other women, that a story about tough and strong women will make them feel empowered.
Private viewing
Kardashian says that during a conversation with Glenn Close, she revealed that she had not seen "Dangerous Liaisons," the erotic thriller that became a smash hit for Close in 1987. That changed. A screening of the film was arranged at the home of one of Kim's siblings.
It was one of the coolest nights ever. We had a drink and then we watched the movie and Glenn told us about the filming and things that haven't been told before.
But what do experienced actors say about working with a newcomer who hasn't shown what she's capable of as an actor before?
When you work with someone who is new to the profession, you want to both support and let them discover a lot for themselves. Kim learns quickly, she was very curious and she was studying for her law degree at the same time we were filming, says Naomi Watts.
