Finishing in the top twelve or throwing over the qualifying mark of 62.50 metres was required for a place in the final.

In her first throw, Vanessa Kamga threw the discus 64.65 metres, qualifying for the discus final.

I've been looking forward to this day. It's great to just get out there and do my thing. I've been looking forward to it so much, Kamga told SVT.

Kamga's personal best is 66.65 metres.

The qualification came as her summer talk was broadcast on P1.

It's fun to give people Vanessa the person and not just the athlete, so I hope I gave an honest summer talk and that you appreciate it back home.

Caisa-Maria Lindfors is also through to the final. The 26-year-old threw 59.57 metres, which was enough for tenth place and advancement.

Ebba Salomonsson Lind, however, missed out on the final. Her best throw was 53.50 metres, just over five metres short of the top twelve.

The final will be decided on Thursday.

We have some really big names out in Europe, I think I show with that first throw that I want to go out and hunt, says Kamga.
