Aretha Franklin's estate appears convinced that the soul queen would have voted for Kamala Harris in the upcoming American presidential election.

The estate has indeed given the green light for Harris to use the song

in a new campaign film. While Harris talks about freedom struggles that have taken place throughout history, such as black Americans' right to vote and women's right to their own bodies, Franklin's classic "Freedom" refrain plays in the background.

According to Billboard, it was Franklin's estate that contacted Harris' staff to give permission to use the singer's music.

Aretha Franklin supported the Democrats for decades before she passed away in 2018. Among other things, she sang the national anthem at the party's convention in 1968 and at Barack Obama's presidential inauguration in 2009.
