Kalmarposten goes bankrupt. The message came on Wednesday and is due to lack of advertising revenue for the free newspaper, which had a circulation of 35,000 copies.

"Thanks for everything! Kalmarposten was started in 1988. Today, the last issue was published", the newspaper writes on Facebook.

"We have fought to ensure that all residents of Kalmar municipality, regardless of residential area or economic conditions, can access local journalism. The response we have received from you has been fantastic".
