The robbery occurred outside Kalmar at 23 o'clock on Saturday evening.
The couple had been sleeping and woke up to two masked perpetrators who entered. They threatened them with weapon-like objects and assaulted them with both kicks and punches, says Evelina Olsson, the police's press spokesperson in region South.
No tools are said to have been used during the assault.
The assault was still so severe that both needed to go to the hospital by ambulance, but it is not life-threatening according to the information received from the region.
What the perpetrators got away with, the police cannot comment further on, other than that it involves goods of significant value.
The case is classified as aggravated robbery. No one has been arrested.
