Former national team player Alexander Kacaniklic, 33, is hanging up his football boots.

I feel that it's time. I'm completely healthy now and there are no problems at all, but the last two years have been marked by a few injuries and it's been frustrating not to play, he says to Aftonbladet.

Kacaniklic belonged to Helsingborg in his younger years and then became a youth professional in Liverpool. He made his senior debut in Watford, on loan from Fulham. After his time in England, he played in French Nantes, and then two seasons in Hammarby. After his time in Allsvenskan, Kacaniklic played one season in Croatian Hajduk Split and three seasons in Cypriot AEL Limassol.

Kacaniklic scored three goals in his 21 international matches and was part of the classic 4–4 match against Germany in Berlin 2012 when Sweden came back from a four-goal deficit.
