The Canadian artist joins Madonna, Shakira and K-pop band BTS in the halftime show - put together by Coldplay's Chris Martin and the first ever during a World Cup final - inspired by the American football final, the Super Bowl, which has featured famous artists performing at halftime since the 1990s.
The organizers also confirmed that the musical performances will last eleven minutes.
According to football rules, the half-time break may not exceed 15 minutes, and even an eleven-minute show can lead to a longer break given the time likely required to build and tear down a stage.
The final will be decided on Sunday, July 19, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
