Justice Department Seeks to Set Aside Alaska Ballots Cast for Dan J. Sullivan Amid Voter Confusion Probe

The U.S. Department of Justice is seeking a court order to set aside some ballots in Alaska to investigate possible voter confusion, while a criminal investigation has been launched in the state into a Senate candidate with the same name as incumbent Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan.

The Justice Department’s request concerns ballots marked for challenger Dan J. Sullivan. It is intended to prevent voters from confusing him with Senator Dan S. Sullivan.

Earlier on Friday, it was announced that federal prosecutors are investigating voter fraud. Democrats are accused of staging an attempt to win an Alaska Senate seat by having a person with the same name run in the election.
