It is an old cruciate ligament injury that has worsened and eventually Crüsell - JVM gold medalist in 10 kilometres in 2024 - was forced to undergo surgery.

She is currently at a pre-season camp in Torsby with the cross-country team, but due to the surgery she cannot roller-ski or ski.

"The plan is that I will be able to compete, but I don't know when I will be able to compete again. It is a major operation and it is frustrating not to be able to participate," she tells Viaplay.

Johan Granath, who is Crüsell's personal coach and coach of the entire women's national team, is optimistic, however.

I think she will be on the starting line in the national opener, he says.

The national cross-country premiere in Bruksvallarna begins on November 20.
