“Jungfrun” in Norrköping was originally a grain warehouse. More than 150 years later, it has been converted into offices.

Now the building has won the Kasper Salin Prize, awarded by the Swedish Architects Association. The jury emphasizes the connection between the historical and the modern, which shows “a path both here and now and into the future.”

What this year's 100 nominations have in common is sustainability and responsibility for the future.

“But in this work, we must not rationalize away our ability to create beautiful spaces and architectural quality,” says Rebecka Engvall, chair of the jury.

The jury believes that “Jungfrun”, with its reuse of an old building, demonstrates just that.
