Germany's World Cup adventure ended this week after a dramatic penalty shootout loss to Paraguay. Following the exit, Sky reported that the German Football Association (DFB) had given national team coach Julian Nagelsmann an ultimatum - to resign voluntarily or be fired.
According to Sky, the 38-year-old has now chosen to resign of his own accord. The announcement is expected to be made public shortly.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp has been identified as the leading candidate to take over as Germany's new national team coach.
According to Bild, Nagelsmann has been offered seven million euros, around 77 million kronor, by the German federation as compensation for quitting.
