”The freezing of all funding to Harvard issued in accordance with the freezing decisions on or after April 14 is hereby repealed”, writes Judge Allison Burroughs in her decision.
The decisions to freeze the funding conflicted with the constitution's first amendment, which regulates freedom of speech, religion and assembly.
It was in May that Education Minister Linda McMahon in an open letter to Harvard's president announced that the university could refrain from applying for government grants since none would be awarded.
The feud, which has also included attempts to stop new visas for foreign Harvard students, is based on the fact that the prestigious university has refused to accept the Trump administration's demands for, among other things, government oversight of its admissions, hiring methods and political direction.
The government has further accused Harvard of being marked by anti-Semitism after Hamas' attacks on Israel in October 2023.
