Sigurd Glans was born into a journalistic family on November 25, 1929, in Jönköping. His father was editor-in-chief of Smålandsbygdens Tidning, where Glans began his journalism career at a young age.
At the age of 21, Glans joined Aftonbladet, and in 1959 he was lured to Stockholm, where he eventually became the newspaper's editorial director and led its daily news operations for more than 20 years.
In total, he worked at the newspaper for 39 years. After leaving his position, Glans devoted himself to radio and television work. He also published several books and was awarded the Stora Journalistpriset in 1993.
Sigurd Glans died on Monday at the age of 96.
