Karin Thunberg worked for 30 years as a permanent employee at Svenska Dagbladet's editorial office. From 2012 until her death, she freelanced for the newspaper.

She died on Friday evening after a short illness, the newspaper writes.

The job was of immense joy and importance to her, while she was extremely present and caring towards her family and friends, her son Karl Thunberg tells SvD.

Thunberg was awarded the Publicist Club's Golden Pen, was named Stylist of the Year and received Lukas Bonnier's major journalism prize.

She has written several books, including "One day I'll tell you about my mother" (Brombergs, 2008) and "Between the kitchen window and eternity" (Brombergs, 2006).

Karin Thunberg also wrote several plays: "Felicia disappeared", "Mothers" and "Crows of Happiness", which have been performed at Stockholm City Theatre and Uppsala City Theatre. The latest play, the monologue "The Gossip Queen", premiered at Soppteatern at Stockholm City Theatre last year.

Karin Thunberg turned 76.
