Erika Bjerström, who worked at SVT for 27 years, is being praised for "her courageous, knowledgeable and deeply humane journalistic work in an era marked by war, climate crisis, democratic withdrawal and increasing polarization," according to a press release.

"In the spirit of Anna Lindh, she combines commitment to the environment and international issues with public education, empathy and a strong belief in democracy and open dialogue. Her journalism reminds us of the connection between people's everyday lives and the big decisions of world politics - and of the importance of never looking away," the release says.

The Anna Lindh Prize has been awarded annually since 2004 in memory of former Foreign Minister Anna Lindh (S), who was murdered in 2003. This year's prize will be awarded in Stockholm on June 15.
