Jörgen Jönsson is quitting as coach in Växjö. This is what the SHL club writes on its website.

Jönsson, 52, has been the head coach of Växjö for three seasons and led the team to gold in 2023.

After a semifinal spot last year, this season ended with elimination in the quarterfinals against Luleå.

Jörgen Jönsson also has a Swedish Championship gold with Växjö as assistant coach, in 2018.

It is not official with a new club yet, but as early as December, Expressen reported that he will take over Färjestad from next season.

Jönsson won five Swedish Championship golds with Färjestad as a player and one as assistant coach.

On Tuesday, Färjestad announced that coach Tomas Mitell is leaving the club after the quarterfinal elimination against Skellefteå.
