He has won almost everything you can win. But soon the career is over. Thank you football, thank you for everything, says the Spaniard Jordi Alba in a video on Instagram.

The 36-year-old broke through in Valencia but it was in Barcelona that the successes came. The defender won, among other things, La Liga six times, the Champions League on one occasion and scored one of Spain's goals in the final win against Italy during the European Championship finals 2012.

Now he plays for the MLS team Miami.

And it will be the last club the Spaniard will represent at a professional level.

It's time to finish a very significant chapter in my life. I have made the decision to end my career as a professional football player, he says.

Alba, who moved to the American league in 2023, will play out the season, then the football career is over.
