After England's 3-2 victory over Mexico in the World Cup, Henderson was celebrating with the visiting fans when he fell over an advertising sign, landing on his arm and injuring himself. The former Liverpool player was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and then taken to hospital.
Shortly afterwards, it became clear that the 36-year-old midfielder would be out for the rest of the World Cup.
"Thank you to all the staff who took care of me at the Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute. Special thanks to the three surgeons who performed the surgery," he writes.
Henderson has made a splash during the World Cup. England will face Norway on Saturday in the quarter-finals.
