The cart system in Kalmar county's ambulances is often affected by problems. According to Defence Minister Pål Jonson (The Moderate Party) it is Russia or Belarus that is behind the GPS disruptions, reports Sveriges Radio P4 Kalmar.

We are deeply critical of the Russian actions in this regard, and we know that these disturbances come either from Russia or from Belarus, says the Minister of Defence to the channel.

There may be different reasons why Russia is doing this. It can be about conducting exercises, and it can be about implementing protective measures for their transports, he adds, and says that it threatens civil aviation and affects commercial shipping.

The problems can, among other things, mean that map images freeze or that it looks like the ambulance is driving in an illogical place.

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency has previously stated that it is likely to be Russian disturbances, especially when it is ambulances near the Baltic coast that are affected.

GPS disturbances have become a growing problem in recent times. In 2023, 55 GPS disturbances directed at Sweden were registered. Until September this year, the number is 733. According to the Transport Agency, the disturbances come from, among other places, Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg.
