Sundling was troubled by a heel injury all winter.
The bursae are irritated. They’re a little angry.
The problems started last summer.
It was a heat wave and I was exercising a lot. I was running, jumping around, roller-skiing and doing whatever I wanted. Then I got sick... and I’ve been dealing with it ever since.
Despite the injury, the Olympics were a success for Sundling, who won one gold and two silver medals. Asked by Expressen whether she competed in pain, Sundling replied:
It’s hard to say. When you get used to pain, it can come in waves. But it didn’t affect my performance. That was the most important thing, says Sundling, adding that surgery for the injury is not an option right now.
