"This is a big decision that I take very seriously. For me, it is ultimately about the party's long-term direction and values. I am holding talks and will return when I have reached my decision," Cecilia Rönn writes in a text message to TT.
On Sunday, the party will vote yes or no on Simona Mohamsson as party leader and, indirectly, on the new collaboration with the Sweden Democrats.
But so far, no opposing candidate has stepped forward. Potential challengers must be nominated to the nomination committee by 7 p.m. on Thursday.
"Cecilia has good leadership skills and is considered capable of bringing together members and elected representatives in a situation where distrust of the current party leadership is massive," the Jönköping Liberals write in a press release.
Among the names that have signed the nomination are the outgoing party board member Jimmy Ekström and Member of Parliament Jakob Olofsgård.
"I have received signals that Cecilia's name is being discussed in several places in the country," Jimmy Ekström tells TT.
