"After a long and intense competition period, a recovery period was planned after the Tour de France anyway," says the Visma-Lease a Bike rider in a statement on the team's website.
"Due to the collarbone injury, the start of training has been delayed, and it is not possible for me to reach peak form in the near future."
Jonas Vingegaard had had a great season – with victory in the Giro d'Italia in May as the highlight – when he crashed badly on the 15th stage of the "Tour".
Vingegaard broke his collarbone in the accident. He has previously won the French cycling classic twice.
