Khemiri has written novels, plays and short stories, but this is his first time working on an opera. The opera is being written together with composer Emmy Lindström (who previously wrote the opera music for “The Gospel of the Eel”).
Lindström and Jonas Hassen Khemiri's opera is being written for the Royal Swedish Opera and the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen, with an expected premiere in 2028.
