Jonas Hassen Khemiri is one of ten authors who have a chance to win the prize in the fiction class and he is nominated for his novel "Systrarna", which was also nominated for the August Prize 2023.
"Systrarna" is about three sisters who arouse curiosity when they move into the million program area on Södermalm in the early 2000s. The novel is permeated by the sisters' English dialogue. A deliberate move by the author, who wrote the entire novel in English - before he himself translated it into Swedish.
The winner of the National Book Award will be announced on November 19.
