During Saturday evening, it was time for the annual climate manifestation Earth hour, where buildings in hundreds of countries were turned off to draw attention to the climate threat and promote biological diversity.

Among those who participated in the shutdown – which took place in Swedish time between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm – were world-renowned buildings such as the Empire State Building in New York and the Colosseum in Rome, according to the World Nature Fund.

In total, 98 countries and territories committed to participate in the manifestation – which has been arranged annually since 2007, writes the movement on its website earthhour.org.
