Johnson & Johnson Raises Full-Year Profit Forecast as Drug Demand Tops Expectations in Third Quarter

American company Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is raising its full-year profit forecast after demand for new cancer and autoimmune disease drugs grew more than expected in the third quarter.

J&J is the first of the world’s major pharmaceutical manufacturers to report this earnings season, and its figures are seen as an indication of the sector’s overall trend.

J&J raises its full-year earnings forecast to $11.05-$11.15 per share, up from $10.96-$11.11 per share.

Revenue at J&J’s pharmaceutical division increased 7.7 percent in the third quarter compared with the same quarter last year. Revenue at its medical device division rose 2.5 percent.

J&J’s stock has risen just over 27 percent since the start of the year.
