Two league titles and one cup win – Johanna Rytting Kaneryd has had a trophy-filled time in the London club Chelsea. Goals have also been scored by the national team midfielder, a total of ten since the move from Damallsvenska Häcken in 2022.
At home against Paris FC, however, the 28-year-old did something new.
She scored a goal for Chelsea in a Champions League match.
Rytting Kaneryd headed in the cross from Alyssa Thompson and then saw the high ball sail over Paris FC goalkeeper Myléne Chavas.
The full hit in the 39th minute gave Chelsea a 2-0 lead.
Prior to that, Sandy Baltimore had made it 1-0 on a penalty – which came after a VAR review – and early in the second half Thompson made it 3-0.
Chelsea won in the end with 4-0 and thus took the first win of the CL season, after starting with 1-1 away against Twente.
