Johan Lövgren Triumphs in Grueling 22-Mile Nordenskiöldsloppet Ski Race

Johan Lövgren completely crushed the competitors in the world's longest and toughest ski competition. The skier from Vännäs won the 22-mile long Nordenskiöldsloppet in Jokkmokk with almost a ten-minute margin.

After nearly twelve hours of skiing, the victory was a fact in a tough competition due to the heat.

"I felt very strong today", says Lövgren according to a press release.

This was Lövgren's second victory in the competition, which is now part of Ski Classics, but at the challenger level. The Vännäs skier also won in 2022.

Klas Nilsson, Skellefteå, finished second and kept up with the winner for more than half the race.

"I made a small push somewhere between 13-14 miles. Then Klas let go. It seems that really long races suit me well", says 33-year-old Lövgren.

Sofia Lindberg, Robertsfors, won the women's class and crossed the finish line after more than 13 hours.

"It was the third time lucky. This is the biggest thing I've won", said a tearful Lindberg.

The Nordenskiöldsloppet started at dawn, at 5 am on Saturday morning. When the winner crossed the finish line, many recreational skiers still had a long way to go. The last ones are expected to cross the finish line on Sunday morning after nearly 30 hours of skiing.
