Johan Andersson will take over as head coach of the Swedish hockey team AIK for the rest of the season. The 38-year-old, who played 95 matches for AIK, has led the club's U20 team since the season before last.
"The plan to elevate Johan to a role in the men's team has long existed. At AIK, it is our ambition to nurture both players and leaders," says sports director Lasse Johansson on AIK Hockey's website.
AIK fired Fredrik Hallberg on Monday after recent poor results. "The Gnaget" is fifth in the Swedish Hockey League.
