In collaboration with journalist Chris Hedges, former head of Middle East coverage at The New York Times, Sacco has interviewed a dozen Palestinian families who managed to escape from war-torn Gaza to Cairo, writes the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
The book will be published this fall, according to a press release from the American publisher Fantagraphics. The Palestinian refugees tell stories about, among other things, "the horrific death toll among friends and loved ones."
Sacco made his breakthrough in 1996 with the comic book "Palestine," based on his own experiences in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Two years ago, he published the book "War on Gaza."
